Manuel Outumuro (Ourense, 1949) is the author of some of the most iconic images in the history of fashion photography. Self-taught photographer and great connoisseur of the history of art and clothing, over the years he has developed a refined and sublime style pointing out his photographs with an unmistakable authorship.
In the last thirty years, his work has documented the great stylistic evolution experienced by the textile design created in Catalonia. In the world of fashion, where time is more fleeting than in other activities, the camera of Outumuro and the numerous publications signed by him have immortalized the development of this industry that has been key to the economy of our country.
The extensive archive of Outumuro, currently managed by the Photographic Social Vision Foundation, has been the subject of research to extract the collection of images that this exhibition hosts: a chronological tour showing the work of designers who have become the history of fashion in Catalonia in the last turn of the century.

Manuel Outumuro
He is currently one of the most recognized Spanish photographers. After graduating in Graphic Design at the Massana School in Barcelona and following his career as Art Director for several years, he became a photographer in a totally self-taught way. He has published eight books on photography, and collaborates regularly with the most prestigious publications, participating in collective and individual exhibitions, the most outstanding of which is ‘Outumuro Looks’, a broad retrospective that the Department of Culture and the City Council of Barcelona dedicated in 2009.
His images of fashion, organized in his extensive personal archive of more than 10,000 negatives and digital material, constitute a unique document that reflects a part of the history of fashion in the last twenty years. In addition, his archive also constitutes a unique visual memory of the most outstanding personalities of Spanish cinema of the last 20 years. This material is constantly expanded with its continuous collaborations with numerous publications.
